What is Skin Cancer?

Skin cancer belongs to any cancer that originates in your skin. This can form anywhere on your skin, including the scalp of your head, the sole of your feet, and even the palm of your hands. Skin cancer can spread more rapidly, change the forms and able to reach nearby tissues and organs as the disease proceed. The condition of the patient is more severe and sometimes causes death if it remains untreated or delays in treatment.

There are two main types of skin cancer which are as follows:

Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer: It is well known as keratinocyte cancer, it builds up in skin cells called keratinocytes. ​Non-melanoma skin cancer illustrates the skin cancers that slowly grow and develop on the upper layers of the skin. ​​In most cases, the earliest sign of non-melanoma skin cancer is a lump or patch that appears on your skin and does not heal after a couple of weeks. It has further segregated into two main subtypes: First is known as Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and the other one is squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Malignant Melanoma: This is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. Melanoma develops in the cells (melanocytes) that produce melanin it gives color to your skin. Melanoma can also occur in your eyes but the chances are rare, inside your body, such as in your nose or throat. Melanoma develops in the cells that produce skin pigment though consider one of dangerous cancer.
