World Health Day 2021: Building A Healthier World

The World's Health Day is celebrated every year on 7 April, is a global health awareness day. It is sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other affiliated organizations. Similarly, the first Monday of May is assigned Melanoma Monday to raise awareness about skin cancer.

The First World Health Assembly was held by the WHO (World Health Organization) in 1948. From 1950, the Assembly decided to celebrate 7 April of every year as World Health Day. The World Health Day is held to signify WHO's establishing and is seen as an opportunity by the organization to attract worldwide attention to a problem of major concern to global health each year. The WHO organizes local, regional and international events on the day related to a particular subject. World health day is recognized by various governments and non-governmental organizations with interests in public health issues, who also arrange activities and highlight their assistance in media reports, such as the Global Health Council.

World Health Day is one of 11 official world health campaigns marked by WHO, along with World Tuberculosis Day, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Immunization Week, World Chagas Disease Day, World Patient Safety Day,World AIDS Day, World Blood Donor Day,  World Antimicrobial Awareness Week and World Hepatitis Day.
